How to Make Soft Chapati Roti Recipe
Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour – 500g
- Salt – As you wish
- Water – 350ml
Instructions
1. Take the bowl and add whole wheat flour.
2. Add the salt mixed water (Refer Note 1 and Note 2)
3. Knead the dough using your palm and fingers.
4. Knead the dough until everything gets in together as shown in the picture below. The dough should be soft and elastic but not sticky. (Refer Note 3)
5. Now make the small balls as shown in the picture below. Keep it aside for at least 30 minutes before making the chapati.
6. On a floured surface, use the floured rolling pin to roll out the balls until very thin.
7. Heat the skillet and put the thin dough layer on it. Cook until the small bubbles start to foam. Once you see the small bubbles, flip and cook on the other side. (Refer Note 4)
8. Repeat the same to every dough balls you intend to make.

Notes
1. You can either add the salt in the wheat flour or add the salt with the water. I added the salt in the water and pour it in the whole wheat flour.
2. The whole wheat flour may vary from country to country. I used exactly 350ml of water for 500g of whole wheat flour. But, you better to add the water time to time and see. If you feel it’s enough then stop, if not pour more.
3. The more you knead the softer the chapati you will get. I was kneading the dough for about 10 minutes.
4. You should use a non-stick skillet or cast iron skillet. If not, you may have to use some oil before place the chapati on it.
