Mutton boti, also known as goat intestine or mutton babath is one of the famous dishes in Sri Lanka.

Using mutton boti, you can make a spicy curry or a delicious fry.

Normally, people make mutton boti curry for lunch, but you can have this for dinner as well.

Alright, without further ado, let’s jump into the main subject. Here is how to cook the best mutton boti curry recipe at home in Sri Lankan style.

Simple Mutton Boti Curry Recipe

Ingredients
  • Mutton boti – 1kg
  • Onion – 100g
  • Chopped ginger – 1 tablespoon
  • Curry powder – 3 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ teaspoon
  • Cardamom – 4 or 5
  • Crushed cinnamon – ½ tablespoon
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Thick coconut milk – 300ml
  • Lime – ½
  • Salt – As you want
  • Cooking oil – As you want
Notes

1. I recommend you buy the mutton boti with some fat.
2. You should boil the mutton boti well enough before cutting and making a curry.
3. If you don’t like more spiciness, reduce the amount of curry powder.
4. I instantly made coconut milk. If it is hard, use the bottled coconut milk or coconut milk powder.

Instructions

1. Take the mutton boti/intestine, clean, and rinse them well 2 or 3 times. Add turmeric powder, salt, cardamom, and cinnamon. Give a good mix.

2. Cook covered under the high flame until mutton boti turns tender and all the liquid evaporates. In halfway through, open the lid and give a good stir. For me, it takes about 30 minutes.

3. Once the cooked boti cools down, cut them into small pieces as shown in the picture below.

4. Cut the onion and mince the ginger. Also, prepare thick coconut milk. Besides, get ready with curry leaves, lime, mustard seeds, curry powder, salt, and cooking oil.

5. Heat the oil and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter. Then add onion and curry leaves. Sauté them till the onion starts turn to golden.
