Normally, people make this curry for lunch, but you can have this for dinner as well.

Sri Lankan Style Squid Curry
Ingredients
- Squid/cuttlefish – 400g
- Onion – 40g
- Garlic cloves – 4 or 5
- Crushed ginger – ½ teaspoon
- Curry leaves – Few
- Curry powder – 2 tablespoons
- Fenugreek seeds – ½ teaspoon
- Mustard seeds – ¼ teaspoon
- Fennel seeds – ¼ teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
- Salt – As you need
- Thick coconut milk – 250ml
- Thick tamarind juice – 50ml
- Cooking oil – As you need
Instructions
1. Clean the squids and cut them into ring style pieces as shown in the picture below. Rinse them well enough.
2. Sliced the onions, chopped the garlic cloves, and crushed the ginger as shown in the picture below. Also, get ready with curry leaves.
3. Take the fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds, turmeric powder, and salt.
4. Prepare 250ml of thick coconut milk.
5. Also, prepare 50ml of thick tamarind juice.
6. Add turmeric powder and salt to the pieces of squids. Mix and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
7. Heat the oil in a wok and add mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter.
8. Add sliced onions and sauté them until they turn to light brown color.
9. Now add garlic, ginger, curry leaves, fenugreek seeds, and fennel seeds. Stir frequently and fry them for one minute under medium flame.
10. Add the pieces of squids and mix them well.
11. Cook covered under high flame for 5 to 7 minutes.
12. Take off the lid and stir frequently until the squids get a little fry. Now, add thick coconut milk and tamarind juice.
13. Soon after, add curry powder and mix everything well.
14. Now cook covered under very low flame for 10 to 12 minutes.
15. Taste the curry and adjust salt if needed.

Notes
1. I instantly made coconut milk from grated coconut. if it is hard to find grated coconut you can use coconut milk powder or bottled coconut milk.
2. Cooking time depends on the size of the squids. The small-sized squids take less time to cook.
3. Basically, Sri Lankans love to eat spicy foods. If you don’t like more spiciness, reduce the amount of curry powder.
