Make Simple Banana Flower Recipe | Vazhaipoo Fry | KETO

How to Cook Banana Flower Recipe

Ingredients
  • Banana flower – 500g
  • Grated coconut – 3 to 4 tablespoons
  • Onion – 50g
  • Dried red chili – 2 or 3
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Fennel seeds – ¼ teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 tablespoon (KETO people use the Himalayan Pink Salt)
  • Cooking oil – As you want (KETO people use the Coconut Oil)
Instructions

1. Take a banana flower and peel off the skin as shown in the picture below.

2. Chop the banana flower into very small pieces. Here is a video where you can see how to chop the banana flower. Put them into a bowl and add some water along with a tablespoon of salt. Mix it well and keep aside for 10 to 15 minutes.

3. Drain the salted water completely. Then wash them for at least 2 or 3 times in ordinary water.

4. Take fennel seeds, mustard seeds, chopped red chili, sliced onion, chopped curry leaves, and grated coconut.

5. Now switch on the flame and add the chopped banana flower. Cook uncovered for 5 to 7 minutes under medium flame. Stir frequently to avoid burning on the bottom. Once done take off the cooked banana flower and keep aside.

6. Now heat the oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter.

7. Add the onions, red chilies, and curry leaves. Stir frequently until the onions turn into light brown color. Then add the fennel seeds and cook for 30 seconds.

8. Now add the cooked banana flower and mix everything well. Cook uncovered under very low flame for one or two minutes.

9. Finally, switch off the flame and immediately add the grated coconut. Give a good mix.

1. Since you are washing the banana flower in salty water don’t need to add any salt while cooking.
