Most of the people fry the fish with turmeric powder and salt, but have you ever tried fish fry with breadcrumbs? If not, this is the time to give it a try. Through this post, I am going to show you how to make a whole fish fry with bread crumbs at home. This is one of the tastiest ways to fry the fish. I am sure that each and every member of your family would like to have this fish fry, especially your kids.

Is fish good for you? Absolutely yes, unless you have some fish allergies. As you know, fish is the best non-vegetarian food which provides many nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to your body. Fish is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and protein. It lowers the risk of heart disease, helps improve vision and eye health, helps you sleep better, helps fight acne, helps lower cholesterol, lowers risk of stroke, and many more. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of eating seafood, go through it if you have some extra time.

This unique way to make fish fry with bread crumbs may take some extra time compared to an ordinary fish fry, but it is worth to spend time for this delicious dish. Mostly, we prepare this fish fry for lunch, but you can have this for dinner as well. Alright, let’s see how to make the whole fish fry with bread crumbs in Sri Lankan style.

Fish Fry with Bread Crumbs Recipe

Ingredients
  • Whole fish – 6 (350g)
  • Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Curry powder/Chilli powder – ½ tablespoon
  • Thin tamarind juice – 100ml
  • Water – As you need (I used 150ml)
  • All-purpose flour – As you need (I used 100g)
  • Breadcrumbs – As you need (I used 100g)
  • Salt – As you need
  • Cooking oil – As you need
Instructions

1. Take the fishes, clean, and rinse thoroughly. Place them in the pan. Add turmeric powder, curry powder, and salt.

2. Add the tamarind juice and water. Mix everything well and switch on the flame. (Refer Note 1)

3. Cook uncovered under high flame until the fish gets boiled and all the water disappears. For me, it takes about 10 minutes. During this time period, in the halfway through, turn the fishes to the next side.

4. Let the fishes cool down.

5. Now take the all purpose flour and add salt to it. (Refer Note 2)

6. Add water time to time and mix well using your fingers.

7. Make a smooth and thick liquid batter as shown in the picture below.

8. Carefully take off the fishes from the pan and soak it into the batter you prepared.

9. Now coat the fish with the breadcrumbs.

10. Do the same process to all the boiled fishes.

11. Heat the oil in a deep fry pan and fry the fishes under medium flame until it turns to golden color.

12. Serve and enjoy this Sri Lankan style whole fish fry with bread crumbs recipe.

Notes

1. Add the right amount of water. Because you should wait until all the water disappears even the fishes boiled well.

2. With that, you can add a ½ teaspoon of ginger garlic paste. It gives you an extra taste and smell.
