How to Make White Puttu
Ingredients
- Steamed all-purpose flour – 750g
- Hot water – 625ml
- Salt – As you need
- Grated coconut – As you need
Notes
1. Few people use the toasted all-purpose flour, but I recommend you use the steamed one.
Instructions
1. Take the steamed all-purpose flour. Also, add salt in the hot water, give a stir, and keep aside.
2. Add the salt-mixed-hot-water little by little while mixing the flour. Mix well to small thick pieces as shown in the picture below.
3. Now put those on a flat surface and use a sharp edge cup or tin to make them crumble, as shown in the picture below. Besides, get ready with the grated coconut.
4. Place the puttu steamer on the stove and boil the water until the steam comes out from the top of the steamer.
5. Now take off the top of the steamer and fill that with the dry crumble mixture and grated coconut as shown in the picture below. I fill that in the following way. Grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut -> dry crumble dough -> grated coconut.
6. Cook till steam comes out through the top of the steamer. For me, it takes about 2 minutes for each batch.
7. Once done, unmold the puttu as shown in the picture below.
